Non-PA residents are welcome. Why orientation on Sunday mornings? This is the only mornings the ranges are closed, no shooting until noon on Sundays. The Saturday date, the orientation will be held while the ranges are live, and hearing protection will be required. Hearing protection will be available for those not bringing any.
You can obtain the SLCFSA Membership Form on the SLCFSA website and fill it out before orientation. DO NOT MAIL THE FORM OR PAYMENT, you must present the form with the $200.00 dues payment at orientation. Check or money order only. There will also be forms at orientation for those who do not have access to a computer and/or a printer.
Parking is limited, try to carpool if coming as a group. Please arrive by 8:30 a.m. Orientation begins at 9:00 sharp and typically lasts for 2-3 hours. Part of orientation is touring the ranges, dress warm as it may be cold, snowing, and raining.
When you arrive, you will be asked your name and must present a picture ID, to check the roster to confirm you have registered to attend that day’s orientation. ALL YOU MUST BRING WITH YOU IS A PICTURE ID AND PAYMENT. If you do not bring a prefilled member form with you there will be forms available to fill out on site.
After orientation you are considered a Prospective New Member until you are voted into membership at the General Membership Meeting following the orientation you attend. General Membership Meetings are held on the third Monday of each month at 7pm. You are not required to be present at the meeting to be voted in, but it is encouraged. If you are denied membership, you will be notified via phone call and/or email and your dues will be refunded. You will NOT be notified if you are voted in as a New Member. No news is good news. Check the club website bulletin board for a notice that member access cards are activated. Example: “Members who attended the February orientation your member access card is now activated, and you have access to the ranges”. (And then a notice for Mar/Apr.)
You cannot join in the morning and use the facilities that day.

SLCFSA RENEWAL 2026
The 2026 renewal period for existing members has ended as of 12/31/2025.
A reminder, if you do not renew by December 31st, you will lose your current member status and if you wish to rejoin it is no different than someone who was never a member. There are no exceptions, no excuses, that is how the bylaws are written, we follow the text of the bylaws.
ARTICLE III – Membership
Section 9: Loss of Membership will result if any member
- Fails to renew annual dues on or before the set expiration date of December 31st of each year.
- All members must complete the Membership Renewal Form for the upcoming year.
The Release of Liability section of the Membership Renewal Form is required to be completed each year by every member, regardless of type of membership or dues requirement
(For online renewal, what you fill out/enter online is your “Membership Renewal Form”)
One of the hardest parts of being membership secretary is every year those who contact me and inform me how they forgot or had unforeseen circumstances, a health issue, having to tell them no, we are sorry, but we must follow the bylaws as written and there are no exceptions. So please, there is a four-month time frame to renew, do not wait till the end, you never know what tomorrow will bring.
All the details for renewing are on the membership form that is available on the club website and in the Sept/Oct and Nov/Dec newsletters each year.

“DO I QUALIFY?”
To see if you qualify to join as a First Responder, please refer to the list “First Responder Eligibility” at the attached link. The definition of First Responder is very broad and can be interpreted in many ways and is by many agencies and after extensive thought and searching we have decided this list to be the most comprehensive and fair. The purpose of this list is to have an itemized list of what positions SLCFSA considers a First Responder and who can join the club with First Responder status. Note that you must be active, retired does not qualify. Civilian contractors do not qualify.
