FAST DRAW
Fast Draw tests your reaction time, accuracy, and speed. Constant practice is required to learn to compensate for anything which slows you down. No matter how good you are, you can always get better!
This is all about instinctive shooting based on hand-eye coordination, not on sights. Most fast draw guns don’t even have sights.
Western Fast Draw uses wax pellets, while Cowboy Fast Draw combines Cowboy Action shooting and Western Fast Draw, using live ammo. Beginners will be shooting only Western Fast Draw.
Targets are steel disks or balloons at a distance of 5 to 25 feet.
There is no time limit, which leaves you plenty of time to shoot.

CHAIR: HOWARD SHINGLER
I grew up in the era when everything was Westerns and all the boy kids were always running around with toy guns. When I got old enough, I bought my own guns. Fast Draw is similar to Cowboy Action, except we use wax bullets instead of live ammo. Also, our event is measured to .001/second.
About 25 years ago, I got into the regulated sport and am a member of the Ohio Fast Draw Association. I’ve traveled to about 10 states for different competitions and won Top Gun 2010 for the Northeast US in 2010. The Worldwide Double-rig Championship is a lot of fun – you shoot with two guns at two different targets.
This is a perfect event for those learning to draw from holsters and for kids. We always have an experienced shooter standing right behind our novices, guiding them in everything. And we dress Western and try to look the part. Come out and join the fun!
